SEEDY KINTEH SHOULD BE RE-ELECT AS GFA PRESIDENT

Is over one three months since the new Gambia Football Association (GFA) Normalization Committee headed by former president Alhagie O.B Conateh who is be assisted by Alhagie Omar Sey also ex-president of the same association. The current interim committee was given the mandate by the Ministry of Youth and Sports to look in to the affairs of our football until congress later this year.

Seedy M.B Kinteh for GFA President
Since the normalization committee came to office, the Gambia football instead of progressing we are only retrogressing from frying pan o the hut fair. A clear proof of this was shown the people when Gambia fails to win any single game in all the categories of national teams in the men football. Our Cocoa Cola FIFA ranking is drastically going down in every three months ranking.

Based on these failures in our football currently, some football enthusiast demanded the re-election of the former president Seedy M.B Kinteh as the president in the upcoming congress considering the success registered in Gambia’s football during his tenure of office as GFA president, even though he has no intention of vying for the post again.

One man a regular follower of Gambian football who wants to remain unanimous of his name and address explain that “Gambia should bring back the GFA former president Seedy Kinteh as the president in the congress coming later this year. Can’t Gambian see for themselves some of the success registered in the history of Gambian football. The Gambia’s appearance to the world cup in U-17 and U-20 in Peru and Canada respectively, the U-17 retaining of the Africa U-17 youth championship trophy in 2005 and 2007 and the senior team double draw with Senegal to prevent them from going the world cup in South Africa 2010. These are some of the biggest achievement that have been recorded in the Gambia’s history book in football thanks to Seedy Kinteh’s regime with the supports and motivation of President Jammeh who is the chief Petron of all Gambian sports”.

“Any way I am not saying without him Gambia’s football cannot progress, but maybe he is the right person to handle GFA now. I still have all the due respect for all members of the normalization committee as one time presidents and senior administrative holders in Gambian sports. They have all achieved in doing things that has in one way of the other promoted our football, but there terms cannot be comparing to Seedy Kinteh’s term in terms of success registered while in office”.

He concluded in saying that “I and Seedy Kinteh don’t even know each other and we don’t shear any personal or family relationships with him, maybe he is a Mislum and I am too and we all came from first mother of earth (Adama). I want to urged all the teams that if not Seedy Kinteh as candidate, let them vote for someone who can make changes in football, hence none ofthe members of the normalization committee is qualified to stand as candidate during congress according to the set by FIFA during the normalization committee’s visit to FIFA’s complex in Zurich, Swaziland few months ago”. He appeals.
