Four senior staff at The Gambia Football Association (GFA) could be the
next to lose their jobs in the ongoing changes at the GFA under the current Normalisation
Committee, MarketPlace Business Newspaper has learn the information.
The
Committee in its meeting on August 7th, 2012had suggested that some senior
staff have not been fully cooperative with it, and have not shown commitment to
the normalisation process, an undisclosed source told this reporter. The report
further revealed that the Committee at that meeting endorsed that the senior
staff namely; Abdou Salam Jammeh, Acting secretary general; Kemo Ceesay,
accountant; Terema Dahaba, director technical training centre; and Kebba
Ceesay, assistant technical director, have been found wanting in their
performances and have not demonstrated loyalty and support to the Committee in
its work of normalising the structure at the GFA.
The report
added that the Committee said that the senior staff have shown disloyalty by
aligning themselves to the views and strategies of the former executive, thus
consistently frustrating the efforts of the Committee in ways they implement
policies and decisions. The source further revealed that the Committee
concluded that it would be impossible to effectively normalise as it is
required in its mandate unless specific measures are taken, adding that the
Committee unanimously agreed and resolved to take immediate action to avert
another crisis.
The source
said it was resolved; to send the senior staff in question for a period of
three months leave, request the Ministry of Youth and Sports to second highly
qualified persons to replace the staff proceeding on leave with names
provisionally agreed as; Marcel Mendy, secretary general; Ebou Secka, Assistant
secretary general; Ismaila Njie, accountant. “The committee also resolved that
the GFA recruit a qualified person with management and marketing skills to head
the Technical Training Centre. It was also resolved at the meeting that the Ministry
should be urged to merge the Gambia for Gold and GFA Marketing Committee,” the
report added.
The meeting,
according to our source, laid emphasis on the need for action to be taken to implement
these decisions immediately so that the normalisation process can continue in
an atmosphere of serenity and confidence. The possible extension of the mandate
of the Normalisation Committee also formed part of the agenda of that meeting.
