The members of the Regional Organizing Committee (ROC)
including Chairman and Secretary Generals from all the six administrative
regions in the country has issued a joint statement signed rejecting to
attend the proposed GFA validation of constitution to be held soon and demand
for delegates to go for congress on the subject matter.
It could be recalled that some time last week the GFA
normalization committee has issue a press release to copy to the stakeholders
in sports, the top government offices, and to the media on the issue of
validated the GFA constitution following the visit of two member FIFA delegate
to The Gambia to see for themselves the constitution governing Gambian football
under the normalization committee during which some sections of the
constitution was rebuff by the FIFA delegates.
Below is the full text of the letter:
Following the receipt of your invitation notice to the
validation of the draft GFA Constitution, we hereby inform you that we the
undersigned names resolved not to attend the said validation meeting based on
the following reasons:
1
. That there has never been any
instance in the history of football in this country that a draft constitution
is subjected to a validation using this proposed format. What we know is
constitutions are ratified and adopted by congress.
That we are not aware of the
existence of any football league associations in the regions. What we have are
football league clubs of district status existing in all the regions.
That we shall never settle on
anything other than going to congress of delegates (the Supreme Authority) to decide that fate
of the draft constitution as in line with standard procedure and practice.
That it is absurd to provide room for
delegate of the so-called “Officially Recognised Nawettan Centre” to the
General Assembly. Our questions to that are:
Where are those recognized Nawettan Centres? And when and where are they
officially recognized? And who recognized them? As far as we are concern,
associating them with representative status in national football administration
should be a national consensus.

I It is our belief as regions that
until positive steps are directed towards issues on the table, our suspicion rate
for manipulation and foul play will remain eminent.
While we assure you our continuous collaboration, we remain
yours in football. The release concluded.
