SYSA CHAIRMAN WELCOME SUKUTA COUNCILOR INITIATIVE

SYAS chairman Bubacarr Cham
The chairman of Sukuba Youth and Sports Association (SYSA) Buba Cham has said that the sports committee has welcome the first initiative of the newly Independence elected candidate for Sukuta Ward Mr. Ebrima J. Cham’s intervention of drilling a borehole in the ‘Dembaduh’ mini stadium in Sukuta.

The sports chairman was speaking in an interview with MarketPlace sports reporter on Saturday at the project side in Sukuta. Delighting on the importance of the project Mr. Cham said “the main purpose of this project is for the field to have a sufficient water to water the bahamas grass in the field. Some years ago we use to have a very good bahamas grass in the field, but apparently we ran into water storage which result to killing the grass in the pitch. Perhaps with the coming of this borehole project initiated by the newly elected councilor, we are confident that it will complement the effort of promoting sporting games in Sukuta”, he said.
“This is part of some of the things that we want to build as sports committee. In the past, the whole project involve like a bahamas grass, perimeter fence and as well in the future think of having mini stadiums here .This is the beginning of it and we hope that this will go a long way in complementing our effort in achieving our gold” he said.

“This project will seriously contribute to boosting the moral of football and sports in general as a whole in the community. Without a proper bahamas, people will not be able to play a good football because of too much sandy in the field. Any time you have a good pitch it encourage people to get attracted and involve in the playing the game”, he said.

“Beside the water problem, the other constrains affecting Sukuta zone which I will say is not strain to other zone is financial problems. Looking at the ground, we have a big field but without pavilion which of course includes sitting arrangement, dressing room, basketball lawn and as well as grounds other sporting games. It is unfortunately we could not have these done, not because we don’t want to do it, but because we don’t have the resource to do it”, he said.

This initiative from the new elected councilor did not come to us (the sport committee) as a surprise because. I have had a lot of development plans from him in Sukuta and in the ward at large. Where he got his facts right is after been elected he started his work with the youth center where lot of youth converge for youth activities. I appreciated the fact that the community is behind the whole project and everybody is working together as a team”, he said.
