GFA Normalisation Committee mandate extend, what does it mean to Gambian football?

The World Football Governing Body FIFA has decided to extend mandate of GFA Normalisation Committee until June this year. This development came days after the regional league clubs reacted strongly to the FA for describing them as ghost clubs and are not qualified to vote in the congrss. What does the extention of the normalisation committee’s mandate mean to Gambian football. MarketPlace sports went to the street to sound the opinions of football enthusians in the Grater Banjul Area.

Speaking to was one Baba Saidykhan of Bakau Kachikally, said the decision is best know to FIFA and maybe Gambians should respect it, if it is the best way for our football. “ For me i have no personal problem as to any how the authorities responsible of running football in the country want to run it. But also those in concern should not take the opportunity of capitalising this situation as a means of stating for good. All of us as Gambians should think of putting our heads together to put solutions to this problem happening in our football irrespective of age  or position, what is important here is the brilliant ideas form people that can surely move the country football further”. Said Saidykhan.
One Alagie Sarr of Jushwang said “out football is going backward every day since the coming of the GFA normalisation committee, so i think it is high time that they leave for the progress of the game in the country. It is true that both the chairman and his vice has registered tremendous successes in their respective terms of office, but the case is different for them this time round since taking charge of the affairs of the FA, so they should give way in the quickest possible time”.

“For any one to believe what am saying a typical example is that, what important game has The Gambia won since to coming of this current committee and the worst of  all is that our monthly Coco Cola FIFA ranking is trooping significantly in every ranking, unlike when the further committee and head coach Paul Put was in the office”. Alagie Sarr said.

Musa Manneh of  Serekunda London Corner shear similar views with the previous football enthusians, adding that the GFA committee is not personal ownership for any one instead those who can make progress in the game are qualified to stay in that office. “I don’t know the reason why the normalisation committee’s mandate has been extended by FIFA again after doing it on two occasions before.  They still want them to be there for what reason? I don’t know to be honest. Every one was expecting to go for the congress by the 31st of March 2013, but to the disappointment of everyone it was cancel. The cancellation was not a suprise to me at all and the same thing applies to other including you the sport journalists”.

“When this committee was coming they said they were coming to normalised the affairs of football in the country base on their experinces, but it did not happened in that way, instead only to mixed up the country’s football. We have seen Gambia withdrawing from African competitions and were later find by CAF during last year, and they attributed our withdrawal for lack funds and non qualified personnel to represent the country. Look at the recent saga going on GFA normalisation committee calling regional league clubs as ghost and are not qualified to vote during the next congress”. Mr. Manneh said.
