GAMBIA PLANS FRIENDLY AHEAD OF IVORY COAST CLASH

YMCA basketball team has beaten Wallidan 47-36 points, to stay three points lead ahead of their title contenders Wallidan, at the Manneh Sillah Memorial Basketball Court in Banjul last weekend.

The winners were very impressive in the first quarter of the game, with their fans cheering them up. They were defensively better than their opponents in the game.

YMCA continued their magnificent performance in the second quarter of the game, with a 34-18-point win over Wallidan. The game was very attractive, in terms of skillful play from both sides, especially YMCA with their young talented players.

Ebrima Manneh’s Interior secured their first win in the ongoing Gambia First Division League with a 2-0 scalp of a resurgent Gambia Armed Forces in a game played at the Box Bar Mini-Stadium in Brikama.

Abou Sanyang scored the first goal four minutes into the second half while Momodou Camara scored to put the result beyond the reach of El Hadji Sey’s Armed Forces in the 54th minute. Camara capitalised on a mistake by defender Ismaila Loppy whose partial clearance was intercepted by giant striker Toubabo who fed his fellow forward.

The head coach of Gambia Armed Forces Football Club has expressed delight at his side’s second straight win in the domestic league.

Senegalese El-Hadji Sy was speaking to reporters following his side’s 2-0 defeat at the expenses of ferry boys Gambia Ports Authority in a game played at the Box Bar Mini-Stadium in Brikama at the weekend.

Sy, who began the championship with loses, and only bounced back in his last two games, said:  “I thank God today for making it possible to collect the maximum points, and I congratulate my boys for the performance."

Coach Ndong said he was really delighted at the performance of his team in a post-match interview with sports reporters shortly after the game.
