This yaer’s Sports for Health events is slated to start tomorrow Saturday and Sunday on the 9 and 10 March 2013 at the Serrekunda West Mini Stadium, and the event will be featuring members of the judiciary, the legislature and the executive, as well as civil servants, politicians and the business community.
At a press conference held on Tuesday at the boardroom of the Independence Stadium in Bakau, the Deputy Director of Youth and Sports Sutay Jawo, has said the 2nd Sports for Health initiative is meant to create good friendship among workers of the various sectors in the vcountry as they get to know one another. Jawo called on all interested people to come on board to participate in the match-pass from the Africell junction to the Serrekunda Mini Stadium at 3pm on Saturday.
Trophies will be given to all
winners of various sporting disciplines and a trophy to the most participating
number in an association, he said.
The Director of Youth and Sports
Pa Suwareh Faye, who also spoke on the occasion, said that in addition to the
four disciplines competed last year, they will include two more to widen
the participation of members.
The disciplines to be competed
include football, aerobics, athletics, tug of war and musical chair.
Other speakers on the
occasion were the Executive Secretary of the National Sports Council, Mamodou
Max Jallow, a representative of Health and Social Welfare and the business
community, among others.
In the football competition, the
Civil Service will take on the Executive; the National Assembly will face the
Civil Service. The Executive will also challenge the National Assembly all in
group A.
In group B, the Business
Community will play against the Politicians, the Judiciary will take on the
Politicians and the Business Community is set to play against the Judiciary as
part of the fixtures.
The Tug of war will see the Civil
Service facing the Business Community, the Executive vs. the Judiciary and the
National Assembly vs. the Politicians.
