Zonal Championship draw for 2012 held

 The Super Nawettan Committee which comprises the Gambia Football Association (GFA) Recognised Nawettan Zones across the greater Banjul area, after receiving approval from the GFA to organize and administer the 2012 Super Nawettan commonly known as Zonal competition is finally slated to commence on 2 December 2012.

This was disclosed to the press on Monday during the draw for the competition held at the Serrekunda West Mini Stadium.

The organising committee of this year’s tournament, chaired by one of the quoted members of the GFA normalization committee, Lamin Camara of Lamin, did the balloting for the presence of  the twelve zones representatives, which are as follows: Lamin, Sukuta, Manjai, Brikama, Banjul, Barra, Essau and Mayamba (BEM), Serrekunda Central, Serrekunda East, Serrekunda West, Bakau, Gunjur, and Brufut.

As usual the twelve teams were divided into two groups of six teams each. The following are the groups:

Group A consists of the defending champions, Lamin, Manjai, Banjul, Barra, Essau and Mayamba (BEM), and Serrekunda East and West. Group B comprises Brikama, Sukuta, Gunjur, Brufut, Bakau and Serrekunda Central.

The tournament is expected to start on 2 December 2012. 

According to the committee, at the moment they are putting all the structures in place to have a very successful and violence-free super Nawettan and as such all supporters are urged to maintain the maximum sense of discipline during the period of the tournament, hence this Super Nawettan is geared towards generating enough revenue to support infrastructural sports development with the zones.
