BAKAU SPORTS COMMITTEE MEETING ENDS IN DEADLOCK

The first memorandum of understanding meeting between the current executive of Bakau Zonal Sports Committee (BZSC) and the newly proposed committee, failed to produce any positive result, as the two parties could not agree on terms.

Wednesday’s meeting at the Independence Stadium, meant to reunite the two conflicting parties, was chaotic, prompting the chairman of the meeting to postpone it till Saturday.
The meeting was convened by the KMC sports committee, who were represented by Omar Danso, the 1st Vice President; Saihou Bah, the Divisional Sports Council; and Mariama Sallah, coordinator of KMC sports, from the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Though the meeting did not settle on anything officially concrete the majority of the attendees were suggesting that the current executive should step down for the proposed committee to take over.  However, there is speculation that the proposed committee is being propelled by the former President of the committee, Bakary Dampha (Paco), and Ebrima Jallow, who were impeached by this current executive for not fulfilling their promises, as well as allegations of mismanagement of the fund during their tenure in office.

Reacting to the situation, the officials and team representatives expressed disappointment with the action of the proposed committee, complaining that their names were written and signatures appended without their knowledge and consent. They however supported the majority consent that the current executive must leave.
According to the President, his Committee had gone to the meeting to hand over their files and surrender their posts but were however denied any opportunity to express themselves due to the chaotic nature of the meeting.
Meanwhile, according to sources, the National Sports Council (USC) were expected to organise a similar meeting with the two parties yesterday, Thursday at the Friendship Hotel with the hope of brokering a lasting solution to the community.

Addressing, the meeting Kemo Ceesay expressed his disappointment with the action of the team reps and officials in Bakau for their manners.  A cording to him they could have settled the whole matter without involving the media.  He advised them to stop the witch hunt and be united for the development of Nawettan in Bakau.
