The Bissau delegation led by Dito Max, president
of the Guinea Bissau National Youth Council arrived in Banjul in honour of an
invitation by its Gambian counterpart, Gambia National Youth Council. Other
members of the delegation include Vladmin Quade, Djuco Sambu and Sonia Vacalte,
who are all board members of the Guinea Bissau Youth Council.
According to the executive secretary of the NYC,
Marcel Mendy, who ushered them into the conference, the coming of Bissau youth
activists results from a memorandum of understanding signed with them in Banjul
in 2010.
"It is even better to have young people from
outside the country to share with so that they tell us what they do and how
they do it in their countries from which we can learn and incorporate into our
activities,” he said.
Beyond experience sharing, as future leaders of
their various countries, Marcel believes creating strong links with their other
counterparts in other countries now is better than making it when they already
assume greater leadership responsibilities.
The head of the Guinea Bissau delegation, Dito
Max, shares opinion with the Gambian youthfolk that the future development of
the African continent greatly lies on the shoulders of her youth.
Expressing delight that the two youth councils
have established fruitful links, Max urged the continent's youth to create a
workable follow up measures on the recommendation they make for governments to
implement.
