S/K East snatch one nil win over S/K West in Super Nawettan Opener

The only second half brilliant free header goal from striker Ebou Sanyang out of his team mate Omar Ndong’s cross shortly after the resumption was all good enough to give Serekunda East the maximum three points against their arch rival Serekunda West in the opening group A tie of the 2012 Super Nawettan championship play at the Serekunda East mini stadium on Sunday.

The first half ended goalless which future squandering of goal chances from both teams competing for a lead in the first period. However either side was able to make the best uses of the created goal chances to balance the score sheet before the break, after creating numerous goal treating opportunities in each others goal mounts.

The West boys after conceding early second half goal came closed with a chances of an equalizer after mounting three instant goal chances in the space of five minutes to level the scores before the central referee’s final whistle, but all there afforded went in vain as they fails to fine the back of the net in the regular time.

The record between the two rivals in all competitions always ended in favor of the East Boys who always have the upper hands against opponent the West Side. But record had almost been a thing of the past in the last game in terms of performance, as Serekunda West dominated passion in the two different halves of the game on Sunday.

The opening game was attended by sports enthusiasm from the Grater Banjul Area including members of the GFA Normalization Committee.
In other opening game on Sunday at the Brikama Mini Stadium futured another West Coast derby between the host Brikama and Sukuta which ended 3-2 in favor of the home team. The host Brikama came from behind twice to level the scores and only benefited from a minutes penalty when visiting team defender Yahya Darboe brought down the host striker Adama Sabally which was converted to a goal to give Brikama all the three points.
