REAL MADRID CROWN CHAMPIONS OF DIABUGU NAWETTAN



The only 69th minute goal from strike Musa Kiaya was all but enough to crown Real Madrid FC the champions of Diabugu Batapa nawettan by beating the Giants FC in the final play on Monday at the Junior Secondary School football field.


The champions of the tournament Real Madrid FC captain by Musa sakally completed the champions with the best record for the first time in many years with conceding any defeat after drawing three and won two matches. This record followed the brilliant achievement of the then Kessima Cham's Gaindeh Njie FC of the village Nawettan way back in 2002\2003 season by winning all their five matches in the group stages and secured the maximum fifteen point. Real Madrid FC reach the 2012 final by a comfortable 4-1 victory in the semi-final and dominated possession there in the two different halves of the game.

Giant FC came to the game with the determination of winning the trophy after reaching the final on a narrow scape by snatching a lone goal win over Gumaneh FC in the second semi-final. However, there for game fail to materialize as they were dominated in the first half but denied to concede any goal in first period. After the resumption, Giant FC lost in control of the game and concedes late second half goal that decided the game to avoid any penalty shot out.

The winner Real Madrid went home with a cash prize of D15000 with a giant trophy, while the runners up Giant FC also return home with D10000 as the cancellation prize. Other prizes awarded after the final include the best, leading goal scorer, the youngest player and the best goalkeeper which went to Alifusine Danso, Karim Cham, Michel Jawara and the veteran goalkeeper of the village Adama Keita respectively all of whom went home with trophies and D500 from the committee.

The final was a thrilling and a captivating match that attracted the attentions of many football enthusiasts from the surrounding communities in the area to grace the event on Monday. The final was officiated by Police Officer Mballow assisted by Ebou Cham from the rite of the pitch and Papa Junta Sakolly on the opposite side.

Chairman of Diabugu Football Association Mr. Ka-seedy Juwara advices the young players of the village keep up with the momentum and all the time, and continued football for them to be a professional one day. He further urges them to recover the village’s lose glory in football in the whole region  as Diabugu was one time champion of the URR and beyond as far as football is concerned. Other speakers from the committee at the presentation ground includes the Secretary General Ebrima Cham, Karim Cham and Dembo Jahateh all whom sheared a similar sentiment added that understanding and cooperation will make them to succeed in live.
