ABENE ENTERTAINED PADOUR FC OF KAFOUNTINE IN CASSAMANCE REGIONAL CHAMPIONS’ LEAGUE TOURNAMENT



The host Abene village has entertained their arch rivals Padour FC of  Kafountine with a comfortable two nil win in the opening match of the 2012 annual regional league winners of Cassamance region of Senegal championship currently underway in Abene.


Gambian born Lassana Marong of Kartong village in the Kombo South opens the scores for Abene in the 6th minute from the start of the game out of superb strike after dribble passing through the defense force of Padour FC to lap the goalkeeper Dembo Jatta before finding the back of the net. In the half hour mark of the clock, he doubles the leads for his side from a penalty spot when his attacking striker Jarreh Jatta was deliberately knock on the face by Padour FC’s goalkeeper after comfortably holding the ball in front of the central referee Adama Sandige in the box.  

A total of twelve league winners from Capscren and Zigunichor in the provincial capital to Abene in the nearest border to Kartong are currently taking part in the two weeks long football tournament. The last edition of the tournament was hosted by Zigunichor and won by Abene after beating the host community in the final before thousands of supporters.

All the teams playing the tournament are currently camp in Abene village, and as usual in any tournament, once you are confirm be knockout out of the event, the team shall leave the village the following day or the team and the players could stay at their own expense.  However the teams that should stay for the whole tournament are the last two reaching the final as well as the third and fourth team for the third place position game to be play as the first game on the day of the final. 

In the second game of the day futures Bendula FC of Ziguinchor luck horns with Capscren FC, a game that ended goalless between the two rivals from the middle Cassamance region.
