Real Madrid FC came from behind to snatched
a 2-1 win over Chelsea in the opening match of Diabugu Batapa 2012 annual
football Nawettan competition which was played at the school ground on
Wednesday. This year’s annual championship has marked the 35th
edition of village Nawettan, Diabugu community has being one of the oldest
community start Nawettan in the satellite communities in Sandu District and in
the region as a whole.
Salimu Jawara open the scoring of the
championship for his side Chelsea midway through the first half from a
brilliant strike after dribbling the solid defense line of Chelsea to fine the
back of the net. Just ten minutes later Musa Baby Njie level the scores for Real
Madrid from a spectacular style to end the first half one hull.
After the resumption of the second
half, both side had the determination of doubling their leads as they all made
a good number of assaults on each others defense lines, but fails to score in
the spot. Until in the 70th minutes when Karim Cham punished his
opponent Chelsea by doubling the score for Real Madrid when he set his team
mate M.S Jallow from square pass out of from a cross on rite hand side of the
field.
Chelsea fail to level the scores to
two hull through their captain Adama Drammeh in the second half after
squandering two clear cut chances in the box by putting then on the sidebar and
over the crossbar respectively.
Speaking to this reporter after the
match the head coach of Real Madrid Banja Sakolly expresses his satisfaction
with the result and the performance of his team in the game. Coach Sakolly
remain optimistic that ‘’the level of performance my boys did in this game has
show the sign that we can be rate in the title hopefuls of the trophy. This is
warning to the other teams that we have not yet met in the competition, so no
doubt that we need to adjust our speed because other teams will prepare for us
in the subsequent games”.
Speaking earlier before official
taking the kickoff, the word council of the area Muhammed Juwara (Houssah) calls
for more unit, cooperation and understanding among the youth of the village.
According to him the purpose of the annual football tournament is foster
cooperation and understanding among the youths of village and satellite
villages in the area hence not only youths of Diabugu are taking part in the
competition. He advise the teams to maintain the maximum sense of discipline
and respect during the tournament for the coordinating committee to be able to
achieve their desire gold.
For his part Ebrima Cham the
secretary general of Diabugu Football Association (DFA) express similar
sentiment and added that the tournament is also meant for the committee to be
able to scout the best and the young talented players to represent the village
team in any competition both in the region and in the nationwide. Secretary General
Cham commended the sponsors of the community’s annual football competition for
their magnificent gesture, and urges them to keep up with the momentum at all
the time.
