DPS BACK MOYS AGAINST RAMOUS OF SELLING TICKETS ON PRESIDENTIAL PACKAGE

The Deputy Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Youth and Sports Malang Jassey has back his department against the ramous that his ministry was selling some tickets out of the fifty presidential packages to the FIFA Women’s U-17 World Cup currently underway at Azerbaijan. A total of fifty tickets were given to the ministry to mobilize supporters who should travel to the world cup to shears our Gambian female team so as to booster their spirits in the competition.

Malag Jassey, Deputy Permanent Secretary for sports
Malang Jassey was speaking on Thursday afternoon in his office to this reporter and Capital FM Radio sports reporter after the national Scorpions Fans Club hold a press conference to inform the media of the ministry’s decision of denying them tickets to the world cup tournament in Azerbaijan. He denied the ramous and added that the ministry is not having any knowledge concerning the matter.

Reacting to the ramous that the ministry and the Gambia for Gold are charging people for $4000 for them to go to tournament in Azerbaijan, he reply “as far as I am concern who ever say that he is not well informed. You were here in my office when you came in; people are coming in asking if their manes are included in the list of the presidential package. So I can tell that 28 people are from the regions across the country, so is it the Governors that we will get the moneys from, there is no body on this package who have paid money for the trip, I can tell you that. Maybe the journalist going to Azerbaijan could ask them one by one if there is any one who paid for the trip because they will spend almost a month there. The ministry and the Gambia for Gold have not collected even a dyne from anyone to go the world cup”. He stated.

He went on to say that, ''if any one was charge for the amount, what is it for the ministry and the Gambia for Gold? How much is $4000 for the ministry and the Gambia for Gold were doing for the girls to go? If anybody has a proof, I am saying this on a record, if any one has a proof of who ever you paid to come to me has the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the ministry, am in charge of sports, I will take it up. I can assure you that there is nobody on the trip who paid money, except I am proofing wrong by somebody physical bringing a proof that he has paid the $4000. I know the package that was presented per person is $4000, which was for the purpose of planning because it is an estimated which includes the visa fee, air tickets to and from accommodations, feedings, and local transports in Azerbaijan as well as the tickets to the matches, these total cost bring the cost to the $4000. Nobody from the ministry, nobody from the Gambia for Gold, it is an unfair statement to the ministry and the Gambia for Gold; because we know that Gambia for Gold was setup in 2010 by the ministry. Since then no matter how small percentage is contribution has been made in terms of supporting the national team”. Mr. Jassey explained.

He further used the opportunity to enlightening the public that the expenditure involve in football is too much than the said amount for the ministry, adding that $4000 is too small to run football for the ministry considering the cost for the game. He further slams the speculation that only those who went to work at the president farm in Kanilai over the weekend were compensated with the ticket. According to him over six thousand volunteers were the president farm in Kanilai, but only fifty people will be going to Azerbaijan.

He concluded by say that “ for me personal I will never agree to anyone who says that only those who went to Kanilai were compensated with the ticket, because in the package the president never say that for you who came to Kanilai are to be in the package. The only thing he said I want Gambians to go to Azerbaijan and support the team”.
