Gambia for Gold has decided to boost the female U-17 team by promoting
the 'Road to Azerbaijan', through a football match expected to be between
prominent stakeholders and a combination of female artists and media
practitioners.
This was
disclosed by the chairman of Gambia for Gold, Tombong Saidy, when he led a
delegation that Monday paid a courtesy call on the president of the GFA
Normalisation Committee, Alhaji OB Conateh, at the Gambia Football House in
Kanifing.

He said:
“Gambia for Gold is trying to do its quota in the 'Road to Azerbaijan' by
raising a substantial amount for them.” He told the GFA Normalisation Committee
president that they aim to raise D1 million, which he said can make a little difference
in the female U-17 team's trip to Azerbaijan. He added that the team is in one
of the toughest groups in the tournament, and they are at the peak of one of
the most important games in female football, while wishing them good luck.
Receiving
the delegation, Alhajie OB Conateh praised and welcomes the initiative and
commended Gambia for Gold, the female artists, and the female presenters for
being part of such a good initiative. He also reiterated the need for all and
sundry to work together to push the female team forward.
Also present
at the meeting was the vice president and spokesperson of the GFA Normalisation
Committee, Alhaji Omar Sey, who noted that the initiative came at the right
time, when the U17 female team could embrace all the aid they can get. The
secretary general of the National Female Artists Association (NaFAA), Kalilu
Banjan, also spoke at the meeting.
