A two-day national dialogue on sustainable sports development brought together good number of sports enthusiast from across the country over the weekend gather at the Independence Stadium Friendship Hostel hull in Bakau to address the downfallen situation of the country sporting disciplines particularly football. The National Sports Dialogue was organized by the National Sports Council under the authority of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Lot of issues were used as the topic of discussion during the two day forum ranging from Sports Governance, School Sports/Grassroots Sports Development, Technical Development, Sports Infrastructure, Sports Competition and Sports Financing which provoke series of comments and contributions from delegates representing sports associations  and zones.

ABENE ENTERTAINED PADOUR FC OF KAFOUNTINE IN CASSAMANCE REGIONAL CHAMPIONS’ LEAGUE TOURNAMENT



The host Abene village has entertained their arch rivals Padour FC of  Kafountine with a comfortable two nil win in the opening match of the 2012 annual regional league winners of Cassamance region of Senegal championship currently underway in Abene.

The Gambia U-17 National Women Football national team, were recently hosted to a reception at the Sea View Garden Hotel by the ministry of youth and sports and Gambia for Gold as a sign of appreciation for the team who recently took part in the FIFA U-17 Women World Cup currently underway in Baku, Azerbaijan. The reception was attending by many stakeholders in the sporting circle prominent among them are the minister for youth and sports and the chairman of the GFA normanlzation committee.

GAMBIA TO HOST FOUR-NATION SUPER TOURNAMENT IN AFRICAN TRADITIONAL WRESTLING



Information reaching MarketPlace Business Newspaper Sports desk has it that, The Gambia government in collaboration with ECOWAS Youth and Sports Development department will for the first time host a four-nation Tournament in African Traditional Wrestling. The two days event is expected to run from the 23rd to 25th November 2012.

FIFA RECOGNISES PRESIDENT JAMMEH’S SUPPORT TO FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT



The Gambian leader, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh’s continuous support to the development of football in the country has been recognised by FIFA. This was disclosed by Omar Sey, the chairman and spokesperson of the Normalisation Committee of the Gambia Football Association (GFA), during a recent exclusive interview with the Daily Observer.

GFA TO BE RENAMED GAMBIA FOOTBALL FEDERATION



Observer Sports has learnt that The Gambia Football Association will have a change of name before the expiry of the mandate of the Normalisation Committee at the end of March next year.

As included in the final draft constitution of the football association which was agreed upon by FIFA, the GFA will be renamed the Gambia Football Federation. This development came after it was agreed by the Normalisation Committee and FIFA that each one of the seven regions in the country should have its own football association with the Gambia Football Federation acting as the supreme body administering the game.

BUBA JALLOW SPEAKS AFTER GAMBIA’S THIRD DEFEAT IN FEMALE U-17 WORLD CUP

FIFA EXTENDS NORMALISATION COMMITTEE’S MANDATE TO SIX MONTHS
